It was fun

Thanksgiving has come and gone and it was great here! Peg, Kerry, Dan, Brian, Pat, Eric, Megan, Sarah and Heather were here, along with Megan's boyfriend, David, and a couple of friends of the family. Great! Of course John & Jackie and Sally & Dana were missing---but sadly, we're getting used to that. (We have not yet gotten used to Katie not being here! ---she and Jonathan stayed in Paducah this year.) Spent the afternoon playing games, talking, enjoying each other! If I can figure out how to do it I'll add a photo to this post. Joan

Dan Weigold Wins City Council Seat!

Thanks to Julie for letting me know about this! Very cool!

The Columbia City Post & Mail had this to say:

"Dan Weigold, who won the at-large seat, beating Chick Harker 63 percent to 37 percent. Weigold had won the Republican primary over Don Langeloh, who had been selected by precinct committeemen when councilman Bob Phillips died to complete his term."

and...

"'My opponent (Seymoure) is a great guy who worked really hard and deserved to win.'
Weigold said, 'It’s an awesome responsibility people have entrusted me with. I’ll work my tail off for them. Both of us (Harker and Weigold) stood pretty much on the same ground, and both of us have a strong work ethic. Chick’s a good guy and treated me well.'"

Congrats, Dan! I'm so proud!

The photo's from the Internet, if you want to send me another one, I'll post it.

The Whole Fam Damily, Up to a Point

Sarah (Good) Weigold and Matthew Weigold flank the kids. David's not born yet.

And then the family grew...

Yes, these characters are related to you. According to the writing on the back:

Back row, left to right: Uncle Danny & Aunt Mary, holding Audrey; Uncle John; Aunt Kessie; Grandpa David Arispa Weigold; Aunt Kessie, Uncle Levi; Aunt Florence (with her hands on Carl Weigold's shoulders) & Uncle Sammy Weigold.

Front Row: Sarah (Good) and Matthew Weigold.

Help? Mom?

This line-up is a little easier. Brian, Mom (Joan), Sally, John, Peggy, Dad (Herb). Around the time of Sally's wedding, August 8, 1987.

New release!

Dan's brand new CD, Hero Worship, will be released Fri night, Aug 17, at Brew'ha Coffee House in Columbia City. I've had an early preview and can tell you it's great! He writes and plays his own songs, built himself a recording studio and has produced something beautiful. Let me know if you'd like a copy and I'll send it! joan

They've come and gone!

It was so great having Kate and Jonathan here! A good chance to really get to know my new grandson. He's a game-player, like us, and 7 of us sat around the table for a few rousing games of Chronology after supper, then adjourned to the backyard and a bonfire (complete with s'mores of course). After a while Peg and Kerry went home and I went on to bed...it was so neat to hear the kids still talking and laughing out there under the full moon as I fell asleep. Dan stayed over, as well as Kate and Jonathan, so we had breakfast together and more games and talk before they left on Sat. afternoon. High times at Bug Island! joan

The new and improved Kate is signing in!
I get to visit Bug Island THIS WEEKEND! I am looking forward to some hammock time and being able to share the BI experience with JLight. I will make sure to take some pics of us enjoying the garden etc to post.

ummmm...hello? Ok, we'll see how this works. What to share of my fascinating life? (Yikes!...somehow having the spotlight on it makes it very humdrum.) My garden's doing well, no doubt because of all the conversation I'm having with it. Well, a maybe little one-sided but the sound of my own voice is so intriguing! joan

Welcome to the Bug Island Bugle Virtual Bonfire

Okay.

Now that all the hugging and back-patting has been taken care of, and the food's on the table in the kitchen, would somebody be so kind as to pull a few lawn chairs out to the edge of the yard where the wood's been stacked for the bonfire?

Thought I'd start us off with some photos I took last summer in Bug Island.

I'd love to see photos of the places all you fellow blog authors live. They don't have to be too revealing. And if you don't have digital photos, no problem, just let post about what's going on with you.

Dixi, have any shots you'd like to share from Greece this spring? John & Jackie...photos of the progress on the house. Brian & Pat, show off those horsewomen in your family?

If anyone would feel more comfortable, we can make this blog by invitation only, so that just the people who can write on it can read it.
